Cd patcher deletes itself/ the files wont extract

just as it sounds all of a sudden when i try to drag the files out of the rar they wont actually extract but i manages to get them out by "extracting here" but the exe just deletes itself.

It doesnt delete itself your antivirus is deleting it

nothing is popping up though and i only have avast. also i have used cdpatcher for a while and this never happened

As the others have said, it's your A/V causing this.  It quite often quietly "protects" you from nasty viruses, which it thinks CDPatcher is one.  It will delete the cdpatcher exe file first, then it will block the archive from opening.

 

You need to create an exception in Avast under the file shield for wherever you put things like cdpatcher so it will ignore them.

 

Go to Settings>Active Protection and click customize on the file system shield line.  A new window will pop up, click Exclusions and enter the path of your safe folder in the bottom entry and click Add.

*note*  Whenever Avast does any sort of update, it can trigger CDpatcher being flagged.  I used it for a very long time with no issues, then Avast updated and BAM! gone...the same holds true for other A/V as well...I've used Bitdefender, Panda, AVG, Comodo, and others...all of them have the same habit of deleting CDPatcher without warning and locking down the archive so you can't "re-infect" your system with such a nasty (useful) program
