Who has an Oculus? (or VR in general)

6 posts in this topic

Hello,

I have one since yesterday and wanted to do some tech- or games talk about it. (Especially cracked games).

99% of the "free games" on steam and co. are just not worth your time. I have not tried some of the full price title, because it is just racing or space game ( not really interested in those games).

I tried Fallout 4 and Skyrim but all tutorials I have found are heavily outdated and most of the tools don't work anymore with the newest Oculus.

Must have tools are (both on steam):

- Envelop VR (for working, watching movies, doing stuff on your pc really efficient)

- Bigscreen (games mostly and sharing screen with other vr people)

Envelop VR does not work with games at the moment. The devs are aware of it. (You lose focus of the window, game crash etc.) but Bigscreen does a amazing job here)

The only good 'mmorpg social thing' is AltspaceVR. Pretty well coded and really fun, you can interact with people even without mic and create some basic avatar. That is the most promising 'mmorpg social thing' out there, but I guess there will be some business competition really fast.

What is your experience so far?

I have one in the house, its been in its box for the past 2-3 months though..

We got a fair share of fun out of it, bought quite a few games for it, etc, and its probably since everyone in my house is quite a fanatic gamer, but eventually it just got boring and didnt feel like an efficient way of using the pc, simple tasks felt like they took longer through it then just doing them from the pc directly

all in all, if you plan on buying it, i advise waiting for the technology around it to improve more, you'll get quite alot of fun out of it for a few weeks, probably more if you're more of a casual gamer.. but for someone like me its just more of a hassle..

I have a HTC Vive. I don't really see point in playing "normal" games in VR like Fallout 4 and Skyrim.

I mostly play roomscale games like Vanishing Realms and Raw Data. Audioshield is a lot of fun too. Horror games, even Raw Data are really nerve-racking. I also watch movies in Bigscreen.

Currently I am getting familiar with Unreal Engine and building/coding stuff for VR. It is just fucking amazing. Building your own room, a follower robot that says stupid things (I wonder claptrap is not out there). Oh boy.

dragon front is a free game like hs, but for vr. Pretty good and deep, too.
